"Georgia's Ghost" was inspired by a trip to Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. Georgia O'Keefe lived and worked in this area from 1934 until her death in 1986. Her presence pervades the entire countryside. This view is from the Ghost House on the ranch.

Most winters Alaskans drift to warmer climates for several weeks and I'm no exception. I've spent many days under the warm Mexican sun.

This Native man spends winter afternoons selling baleen in Anchorage. He let me take photos and this pastel portrait was the result. Baleen is taken from the mouth of the Bowhead whales that the Eskimos hunt.
